Two-stage screw compressor packages for demanding cooling conditions
The GEA Grasso SP2 series is specifically suited for applications requiring low evaporation temperatures, high temperature lifts, and significant differential pressures. The two-stage compression system of each package includes separate low- and high-pressure screw compressors arranged in series to achieve both high efficiency and operational flexibility.
The SP2 package features a unified base frame structure that combines an integrated oil system with a centralized control panel, enhancing installation simplicity, operational efficiency, and maintenance. The combined system requires less space than two separate single-stage compressors and performs better than compound solutions in terms of both footprint and integration capabilities.
The dual driveline setup provides both operational redundancy and flexibility. It enables independent control of each compression stage for variable-speed operation, allowing the system to adjust to changing loads and environmental conditions. Additional adaptability is achieved through the option to deactivate the low-pressure stage when necessary – for example, during maintenance of the booster compressor or when only medium- to high-temperature cooling, such as air conditioning, is required and can be handled solely by the high-pressure stage.
The product range includes 18 models, starting at 118 kW and extending to 2,100 kW of cooling capacity (R717 | -40/+35 °C | 3,600 rpm), with multiple high-pressure compressor options available for each booster model.
